what would jesus do?

in response to the israeli attack on palestine and lebanon?

would he call them terrorist?

would he stand against them?

likely he would.

israel and the united states are terrorist ...

they sow the seeds of terror and fear and hate and death with every word coming from the "leaders" ... and our gardeners are the young men and women on the ground shooting the guns, launching the grenades, dropping the bombs on the homes, businesses and governmental buildings of the people of sovereign nations. the water is the silent people of god just watching it happen without doing anything to stop it.

jesus ... jesus would be fasting in front of the capitol building in washington d.c. to end the war of terror we are perpetrating on the world.

we are a nation very lost in the web of the lies of the deceiver.

you cannot envision, organize, fund a military and train human beings on how to use weapons with the only purpose being to kill and murder people and be 'righteous' ... you just cannot.

if you do not feel that ... you are lost too.

if you do feel it ... you better start doing what jesus would do, and DO SOMETHING.

In times of hurt, I find comfort here. Luke 7 (21st Century King James Version)

37And behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and began to wash His feet with tears and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed His feet and anointed them with the ointment.

39Now when the Pharisee who had bidden Him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is who toucheth him, for she is a sinner."

40And Jesus answering said unto him, "Simon, I have something to say unto thee." And he said, "Master, say on."

41"There was a certain creditor that had two debtors. The one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

42And when they had nothing to pay, he freely forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?"

43Simon answered and said, "I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And He said unto him, "Thou hast rightly judged."

44And He turned to the woman and said unto Simon, "Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house: Thou gavest Me no water for My feet, but she hath washed My feet with tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.

45Thou gavest Me no kiss, but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss My feet.

46My head with oil thou didst not anoint, but this woman hath anointed My feet with ointment.

47Therefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little."

48And He said unto her, "Thy sins are forgiven."

49And those who sat at meat with Him began to say within themselves, "Who is this that forgiveth sins also?"

50And He said to the woman, "Thy faith hath saved thee. Go in peace."

the entire situation is bs and what kills is the people who are dying. I can not believe it- that there are diplomatic talks while others are dying. If they picture the faces of their spouses or their children than maybe they would get off their asses

Hello Elaine. I disagree with your views that all the terrorism is committed by Israel, (but of course I respect your right to say that). In an awful situation like the one in the middle east there are usually two sides at fault. As a secular British Jew I am not blind to Israel's faults BUT they are surrounded by nations who have sworn to destroy them and they will take ANY steps to prevent this happening. Surely Jesus would have recognized their right to exist in peace. Anyway, I wish you well and good luck with your blogs.

hi bazza
... thanks ... i totally agree with what you said ... and i think you misunderstood my posting, or i was just in a bit of a rant that day and i perhaps but a bit more sauce against the 'us' side of problem ...

i don't think i said that all the terrorism is committed by israel as that is certainly something i do NOT believe ... what i am TIRED of ... is "THEY" are "terrorist" yet we with our massive power, resources and weapons (that eclipse anything they have or will ever even hope to have) are somehow "right" in using violence against any people.

we are truly a bully ... and as israel is backed by the US unilaterally ... they have the school yard bully standing behind them free to do what they want, when they want without restraint right now (as is happening all over the planet and not just in israel/lebannon) ... i'm tired of us westerners thinking we can just invade sovereign nations without recourse from the UN ... if it was germany doing it, the world would be in a total uproar. if we do not honor the sovereignty of a nation like lebannon or iraq or afgahnistan, why should our sovereignty be honored?

i mean, if there's a 'terrorist' gunman inside a mall shooting up the stores and teh people in it, we wouldn't bomb the mall, there would be a stand-off, negotiations ... well, except that whole Waco, Texas thing ... so maybe we would bomb the mall as "the people of the world" are truly expendible to our people-in-power's 'goals' right now.

our might and power make us able to terrorize MORE people ... yet we define only THEM as terrorist. I do believe that peace must come from BOTH sides ...

but as i am reminded by jesus ... i can't worry about "them" and what they do, I have to worry about "me and my house" and what i and we do ... first, i must stop ... then MAYBE they will too, but if they don't, i have to be willing to be the sacrifice jesus taught me to be.

thanks for stopping by ... i will post this as well, just to make sure no one misunderstands my position ... and i hope this clarifies it for you.

greg ...

thanks for your comment, although i don't quite understand what you are trying to say. i am neither a sheep, a shepherd, a watchman or any of the characters in the story your posted. i do not identify with any of them, nor do i want to ... is that bad? i would consider myself more a horse.

'recovering' born again christians are those that realize that what is coming from the 'born again' pulpits is mostly lies about how powerless we are ... when jesus taught us the opposite.

i am recovering the power in my life that jesus taught me about.

thanks for stopping by!

oh, and by the way, my name is 'elaine' not 'Elaine' ... i am conscious in the fact i do not use capitalized lettering ... i do it to remind myself that i am one with all things god created ... no higher, no lower ... just another piece of god wandering this earth in peace ...

'what if god was one of us, just a slob like one of us, just a stranger on a bus, trying to make his way home ...'

Jesus was a jew. He would have been another jewish citizen getting constantly attacked by islamic terrorists.

Or did you forget that jewish part. It was 2000 years ago, so I know your memory might not be perfect.

alex,
thanks for stopping by and i suppose jesus was a jew ... even though he was born in palestine ... but i suppose that's a different story too ...

the nation of Israel's attack on the nation of Lebannon and state of Palestine is not a JEWISH attack on MUSLIMS ... is it?

hmmm ... i suppose jesus would listen to his Father ... "thou shall not murder" ...

Well It is hard to say what jesus would do. While I as a scientist do not consider him god (or consider any god at all, sorry to offend), if I did accept him as the son of god, I wouldnt presume to predict his reaction.

You can say what jesus would do, but the bible also discusses the murder of children with stones for talking sass. I would say what Lebanon has done is worse than just talking trash. I dont want to get into a debate and just waste your time or ruin what you have made to be a nice blog, but I dont know that we can know "wwjd" nor should we always base our political strategy on it. "wwjd" in WWII against the nazis? Would peace and love really have stopped hitler? Is murder (or kill) ever ok? Is it not just a relative term? I dont know, these are just a few of the questions I start to ask when I see this post.

Just visiting, dont mind me, I wont bug you guys again!

To Alex,
Jesus would not be touched by a "Islamic Terrorist" for if you do not believe in Jesus as a messenger of god you can not be called Muslim.

alex ... you would be surprise about how much of what you said i would agree with ...

was jesus real ... oh goodness, i dunno ... i personally believe he was a real person just like i am, but beyond that ... divine? ... no more than you are or i am. (and i think he would agree with me)

even if he wasn't a real man or didn't do what people have created in the stories that he did ... hyperbole is a remarkable part of human nature, and thanks to constantine and the council of nicea, we have the indoctrination of a whole lot of people who have ascribed divinity on a man that was, ultimately, just a man ... hence, "the jesus idol."

killing right or wrong ... again, i dunno. i know for me, its wrong. period. i don't have a debate about it because i believe that not everyone has to agree with me on that issue. i certainly can understand the other position. BUT, since i do consider myself a christian, and if anyone else does, i think the LEAST they can do is follow the 'rules' of what a 'christian' is and is not. i also believe my being an american is one that affirms that i do not have the right to take another person's life.

was war/killing right in the discussion of nazi germany ... boy that one is hard ... but hind sight being 20-20 ... i believe in the prevention of wars. if we had been courageous and intelligent and not posturing and being political (and they were not so lucrative as to bring out the greed factor) ... all of our wars could have been prevented.

it is only the absence of intelligence and creativity and respect when violence is resorted to in order to resolve differences. i guess that's my bottom line, and from what i understand of the teachings of jesus, his as well.

is war going to end overnight ... i'm not delusional, but i am hopeful for our future.

do i think we can all co-exist on planet earth without war ... yes i do.

do i think we can some day resolve all conflicts without violence (and not just physical violence) ... yes i do.

i figure if i can get there, anyone and everyone can. that is what i work on ... stopping violent emotions, violent thoughts, violent words ... anything that hurts another or disrespects another is a violation of the sacredness of the other person.

those are my daily battles. you are most welcome to stay and disagree or agree as you wish ... you have a fun, light and good heart and a discerning mind ... and your comments give something to think about ... i like that!

***

a mumineen, very interesting ... i did not know that ... i suspected it to be the case as i understand true muslims are also non-violent. one day soon the family of abraham will indeed be reconciled and reunited and past sins acknowledged and forgiven. because, even before abraham, sarah, hagar, isaac & ishmael ... we were one family. we are only separate in the various levels of our minds and awareness throughout the planet, but ultimately we are all just simply the family called 'homo sapien sapiens'.
