prayer & fasting
something i'm involved with
because prayer and fasting is part of my tradition. working with the principles of the prince of peace, i am participating in this fast for:
1. the immediate lay down of all the weapons of war in the hands or under the control of my countrymen all around the world;
2. the return of all troops in foreign lands engaged in military operations;
3. a complete dismantling of our entire arsenal and weapons of war;
4. the reorganization of the department of defense to be under the jurisdiction of a department of peace;
5. the impeachment and removal from office of president george w. bush and vice president richard cheney; and
6. criminal prosecution of messrs. bush, cheney and rumsfeld for acts of war and treason against the people of the united states of America.
i pray for these things or that which is better in the name of god, amen.
peace & harmony,
elaine

I noticed you'r not praying for it to happen among the people on the other side of the conflict.
Not condeming your point - I think it is important - but peace is not a one sided proposition.
... two scriptures came to my mind ...
"as for me and my house, we will serve god." right now, my house is not serving god ... that is why i am praying and fasting for the things i listed.
and, probably more to the point of your comment,
"peter turned around and saw the disciple jesus loved following them ... peter asked jesus, 'what about him lord?' jesus replied, 'if i want him to remain alive until i return, what is that to you? you follow me." john 21:20-22.
you cannot change another person or the other side. you are only responsible for your thoughts, your actions and your heart.
i believe that if i change, god will do the rest. as jesus said, 'what is that to you'?
as ghandi said, 'be the change you wish to see.'
